Dallaglio Cycle Slam raising money for rugby charities

Next year Lawrence Dallaglio is taking part in the Dallaglio Cycle Slam, a massive fundraising bike ride to raise money for several charities, including Cancer Research UK, the RPA Benevolent Fund and the RFU Injured Players Foundation. The Dallaglio Cycle Slam will visit all six national rugby stadiums during the 2010 RBS Six Nations tournament. Starting in Rome on 12th February, Lawrence and 250 volunteer fundraising cyclists and celebrities, including RPA CEO Damain Hopley, will cycle to Murrayfield, taking in Paris, Twickenham, Cardiff and Dublin along the way. In partnership with the BBC’s Sport Relief campaign, the cycle ride hopes to raise £1 million for Sport Relief and the recently established Dallaglio Foundation, which in turn will support Cancer Research UK, DebRA, Help for Heroes, Leukemia Research, the RPA Benevolent Fund and the RFU Injured Players Foundation. In total, Lawrence will be on his bike for 24 days, covering just over 2,800 Kms. Damian is planning to support both the RPA Benevolent Fund and the RFU Injured Players Foundation by cycling from Rome to Paris in Stage 1.
